MPG???
Hey guys,
I was reading through some threads and I have seen, in a few different places, stories of some V6'ers getting 30 mpg highway and 25 mpg in the city. Now I know it has a lot to do with driving style, conditions, etc. but I am lucky to see 20-21 mpg in the city. I have been trying to drive very conservatively lately just to see how high i coud get my mpg but still I cannot break that 21 mark in the city. I don't see how people are getting over 25 and I was just wondering if it is me or the car that is holding my mpg down.
Thanks,
Hunter

RE: MPG???
some people will swear that a cai and tune will give them 2-3 in mpg increase. which i might agree with because you're making the car breathe better.
20-21 is still something i can't see unless i'm on the freeway. usually 19 or so.
the city, i'm seeing close to 14-17.

RE: MPG???
Not performance wise. I thought it was my driving style to begin with also but I have been leaving my info screen on that little MPG scale thingy and I have been trying my hardest to keep it up at the top # of bars or the second highest level. I mean, thats not always possible, but I have been makeing a conscientious effort to keep it up so I don't see how I could get a 5 mpg difference on average.
And one of the places that I saw a person getting 25-30 mpg was on the thread where the guy restored the beat up '07 S197 that had no mods on it so I don't think this is the issue either.
I might be making this a bigger issue than it really is and it could truly be that my driving style holds it down but I was just trying to see if there is something else that I could correct (car wise) to bring this number up.
Thanks for the help and interest,
Hunter

RE: MPG???
i have been keeping a log of my gas mileage for about 25 tanks now... on the average with my mods i get 20 in the city driving 40% hard always shifting around 3k. 25 mpg is Hwy driving the same way. i was reading and it makes sense that the gt gets better fuel econ on the hwy - the engine isn't reved up as high as on the V6 doing 80mph...

RE: MPG???
Yeah thats what I was thinking, I usually average about 18-20 with all of my local driving (probably 90% city) and I thought that was normal. I jsut saw these reports of 25 in city and 30+ on the highway and it made me think about my MPG. Lately, like I said, I have been trying to keep my MPG up and I have averaged around 19.5-20.5 so I have seen a little increase, but not much. I'm just glad that I'm not just weird and that I'm not the only person who thinks 25-30 mpg is crazy...

RE: MPG???
I usually get about 13-14 (doing rough math in my head on demand - no averages or multiple tanks or anything). This is usually in the city, and I drive like a maniac.
If I try really hard to keep the RPMs down I can get up to 19-20 (GT). Mods in sig.
