Our cars are not the best when it comes to "go from a roll". Doesn't seem that big of a deal in my experience, but I've heard a lot of stories like this.
I beg to differ.

I've read this in Car & Driver and Edmunds. I've seen several forum members post this issue as well.

When going at it full throttle from a dig it feels wicked fast. But just mashing the pedal in 2nd or 3rd gear does nothing for me. It's not slow, but somehow I feel it takes some time to take a big breath and then lunge forward. Unless you are up there in the RPM's. It really goes from 3500 grand up. It's like VTEC...

Roll races are for pussies anyway.

Now if one where to shift back from 5th to 4th or 4th to 3rd and revmatch, it reacts a lot quicker. Still not the same as going from a dig though. I use the shift back thing when I have to pass someone.

I dont think your talking about the lag. I think your experiencing what most of us experienced when we were new to the mustang world and that is when you go W.O.T on a roll the car "AUTOMATICALLY" shifts from 1st to 2nd gear or from 2nd to 3rd whichis supose to saveyou some gas and let the engine be at ease.

The only solution is to upshift. Also you can test your car and see at what speeds you can go W.O.T without the car shifting by itself.

This is common in almost all automatic sport cars.

That really sucks

The only way from a roll that I can race without going sideways is around 80MPH. Otherwise, my tires will spin like all hell, and I won't go anywhere except sideways. Fun Fun Fun....
Hit the gas in one quick motion all the way down. From 80MPH, no lag in my car, and it still hits me back into the seat pretty hard. Good luck!
