Default Hurst shifter notchy

Today was the first day I was really able to drive my car with the Hurst shifter, I am wondering if something is wrong with mine or if they are all this way. I've read about the notchy feeling, but it seems to require some force to get it in each gear, there is almost a clunking feeling in your hand as you're going through the gears. I like the raised height of the shifter and the short throws, but not so sure about the added force required to shift it.

Completely normal. You'll learn to like it... the goal was to shorten the throw and eliminate the 'slushiness' or the stock shifter.

+1. It will also loosen up a tad after it gets broke in .

Yep. It will definitely smooth out a bit after a few weeks. But it's supposed to be notchy. I love the feeling of knowing I'm in gear.

The Hursts are notchy.
Not sure what has to "break in"
though. When does it stop
"breaking in"?
