Tires
I have the 18x9 chrome bullitts on the way and wanted to know the best tire for the car. I am not planning on using them at the track as they are my daily driver. I am looking for them to last a little while, relatively speaking, and not cost more than $200/tire.
Yokohama, Nitto, Falken, Kumho?
Thoughts?

RE: Tires
What kind of perfomance are you looking for in a tire? I assume you want an all weather tire, good in the rain and good in dry conditions. One tire that is a very good value for what it is, is the Toyo Proxy.

RE: Tires
Let me start by saying the price I quoted would be from Discount Tire.
With that said, I live in San Diego so we don't normally get a lot of rain, but I would certainly want a tire that was able to handle it for sure. I don't plan on doing burnouts or doing the racing thing; just the daily driver with some fun driving it. A little more traction would be great.
Hope this helps.

RE: Tires
On a budget, what I would do is try to find the best deal tire with the lowest treadwear rating possible. This will give you performance with value. The lower the treadwear rating, the 'stickier' the rubber. -But, a tire with a lower treadwear rating will wear faster than one with a higher rating. I would default to the performance side vs the extended life side. If you go with a more performance oriented tire and don't race on it, you'll get some decent life out of them. Shop around. I always tried to find a good price on a tire at Tire rack first, then I will go to my local shops and see who will match the price. Purchasing the tires locally makes the most sense to me, because if you have issues with them, you can go back to the place of purchase. If you buy your tires online and have an issue, you may need to deal with them. I always try to stay local, if possible.

RE: Tires
i am gonna go with the BFG g-force T/A KDW-2 255/45YR18. they have them on sale right now at tirerack.com (i believe) for $171 apiece. Out of 46 tires they have in the 18" catagory, they have the second best rating in wet conditions and i personally think the new tread design looks bad ***...

I have the base wheels for my gt, but the 235 sux.. I heard you could go with 255 (forgot the profile) 17s. Can I go higher then 255s or maybe larger in the back. I like the rims and dont want to blow the $$ for new ones.. but I dont think 255 will be that great
