Let me rephrase that...

My generalizations are exaggerations of the truth

Don't even tell me that anyone you know who is a GM guy even comes close to respecting your mustang.

Have to agree with Mr. Keeler
Let`s leave out the juvenile Ford vs. Chevy animus and review some facts

The small block Chevrolet has:
Been built for 50+ years
Over 40 MILLION have been produced
The same basic architecture has supported displacements between 4.3 and 7 liters
"" " " " delivered rated hp between 108 and 500
Been used in aircraft
" " " boats
"" " low volume Italian exotic autos
" " " " "British " "
The pushrod design that some deride, allows for a very compact engine
It`s as reliable as an anvil
It`s reasonably light, even in cast iron form
It is very inexpensive to modify for more power
etc, etc
If you don`t like GM in general or Chevy in particular, that`s fine. But anybody that can`t recognise the merits of the SBC, knows nothing about engines

To answer the RP's original question.......Yes. That is why I've owned owned over 80 cars/trucks. I get bored looking at the same dashboard. I am not married to Ford (see sig),although, I've owned more Fordsif you include trucks. I am getting kinda close to retirement and I will have to start keeping things longer. My Mustang and Corvette will be "keepers". I hope I can keep riding bikes for a few more years, so I will swap out the Valkyrie in the next year or so. I don't know about the Dodge Ram. I will always have a pickup though.

1. they are not near as sexy - Personal opinon
2. they are not built as good - Questionable. Compare TSB numbers...........
3. the ls1 is quick but there push rods SUCK - [&:]probably the most utilised motor of all time, yea, it must really suck ! (their)
4. they are not as comfy - Depends on your shape
5. alot more rattles ect - is that possible?
6. I could go on and on - Go on then

1. I guess but overall, the S197 is the most widely appreciated car design in history, undisputed.... So to the majority, yes
2. I don't know the TSB #'s, do you?
3. Ridiculous motor, no arguement there....
4. There is no comparing our interior to an F-body, come on now marcus....
5. Mine doesn't rattle all that much, maybe you should move down from canuckland, and im in CT so we get winter, just not yours
6. First On Race Day

anyway, to the OP, mod the stang, I doubt they are stock so dont compare yours stock to theirs modded.
where in CT are you from? im down in danbury

It's more than just the engine, i won't deny it's a nice engine, but the package as a whole, Buy a Trans Am WS6 and an 05+ mustang, you're getting ~the same performance, except for a solid rear end. I'm pretty sure they had independant. Either way, the S197 does handle pretty considerably better around corners. I crashed me SS finding out just how bad it actually is [:@].

I'll admit this much..T-tops are a gift from god. Wish i could have them again, but on this.

If you like the camaro more...get one, but you could keep your car and add a CAI/Tune, 4.10s, and you could absolutely tear up a camaro that is mildly modded. If you want more, add nitrous, supercharger, or turbo. Drive a car with these mods and your mind will change

Chevy people have HUGE inferiority complexes and feal the need to put down everyone who doesn't own a GM.

You`re painting with a pretty broad brush there, just how does one arrive at such completely ranksweeping generalizations?
Yeah, those are a lot of generalizations! I like the the LS-1, heck, I own a Corvette. I'm a car person, not a Chevy person. I don't really feel any need to put anyone down.

Still, I am not a fan of the f body. They were universally known to be creaky, poor riding with really lousy interiors. Not really a great daily driver. Take away the Corvette engine from an F body and you aren't left with much. Honestly, I think the looks also killed the car...door stop styling doesn't win me over.

Sometimes a car isn't about being the fastest in a straight line. A car also has to be livable. That's one reason why the Mustang beat the Camaro...broader appeal.

Here's a comparison test from 1999 done by Edmunds. They pick a lowly 1999 Mustang GT over a 1999 Camaro Z28 SS.
