Cooler air question

Cooler air question
I am looking for a cooler air intake for my 05' sonic blue GT. I've heard good things about the JLT Performance Cold Air Intake and the Steeda Cold Air Intake Kit. I'm not really sure what the difference is so I thought I'd ask your opinions of which you would feel is better.
Also, does the Carbon Fiber Inlet Elbow on the steeda really make a difference? Is it worth the extra money?
Thanks in advance guys.
One more thing, is there any other basic performance enhancements anyone would recommend?

RE: Cooler air question
Just to let you know. I have done research on the subject and everything I come up with is the AEM cold air intake is the best. Had one on my Toyota Tacoma. And it was awesome. But, this is my first mustang so, not too sure on what is the best. Look into the Roush intake. It is suppose to give good gains.

Check this CAI shoot-out. It was done a while back but its a big reason the C&L and the JLT are so highly touted. Overall however, note that there isn't much HP diff between the top ones: http://www.mustang50magazine.com/tec...ons/index.html
The most important aspect of this is the Tune not the CAI you choose.
Regards other basic performance upgrades: there are many "bolt-ons". Just hang out here a while, go thru old posts, read, you will see detailed discussions of each. In general CAI+Tune and Gears are your big bang for the buck improvements (other than a SC).

RE: Cooler air question
If your use of the word "cooler" is temp related, then yes, the carbon fiber one would allow for cooler temps. The metal ones get heat soak and actually hurt performance.

Forget aem and roush. Junk. Roush is just a copy or airaid.A jlt, steeda, c&l, demolet will get you what you want. The carbon fiber inlet is just mainly for looks. Steeda's had a few problems with the tube warping. As for a cooler temp, just stick to a plastic inlet.

RE: Cooler air question
I have the JLT. Its just a cheap regular cold air intake. Ugly. So yeah, its great for the $$$ spent.
If I had the $$$ i wouldve gotten the steeda with the elbow... Seems a bit more functional.
Keep in mind our engine gets all the air it needs from any cold air intake, it would take a lot for one type to outdo another.
But most importantly... you can't slap a cold air intake on. You need the computer re-tuned for it. So buy a intake+tuner combo from brenspeed or vmp or some other tuner. If you put a cold air intake on without a tune then your car will flat out sputter and die.

Man, I am going to check out the CAI shootout. Even though I am supercharging my Stang. Not even going to waste time with a CAI.
