Went to Realspeedautomotive today at 930am had my ford 4:10 gears installed...im taking it easy so far becasue eveyrone is saying to wear them in for 500 miles first...I want to get on them so bad....but I guess ill have to wait....I really cant..but I will...lol...btw cost $271 after taxes with me providing my own gears...

 

Getting mine done Monday morning... I was planning on doing it myself but for a $300 install, my times worth more at work... What brand did you go with?

 

FRPP make sure it the model ends in A to be sure it is a ford and not MOTIVE

 

great price...good choice of gear......let it break in for a while.....don't know if 500 hundred milesis the right break in......better safe than sorry....enjoy the new 4:10's

 

Yeah I know everyone says Motive gears are junk but I think thats more a matter of who's installing them... I say if they're good enough for Strange Engineering to sell them, they're good enough for me....

Motive gears are junk I don't care if Carroll Shelby himself installs them. I had motive gears installed by a very good mechanic and they whined like hell. So then I had the same mechanic install true FRPP gears and presto no whine at all. By the way it took him 10 hours to install the motive gears because they had to be shimmed over and over and about 3 hours to install the FRPP. Don't make the same mistake I did.
