There is a 13mm bolt that connects the arm to the transmission in the back, the mgw shifter installation dosn't even have you touch this bolt during the install. So tonight, 2 weeks after installing it i was changing my oil and decided to make sure the bolts where still tight on the shifter. this is what happened - What are my options and how the hell can i fix it???? i gotta have it fixed before monday!

You know, I was sitting here trying to figure out why I couldn't figure out what you were talking about, then I realized you have a V6... Different tranny..

Good luck with that man.. I'd remove that entire bar and take it to the stealership. I'm betting it's going to have to be ordered though, and I SERIOUSLY doubt you'll get it fixed by Monday..

Well let me be the first to tell you this as many will tell you this too....IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!!!!

Your going to have to take the shifter out at any means possible and then take that arm off from the shifter and tranny and take some channel locks or vise grips with plenty of penitration lube and unscrew it... Good luck man... been there done that...

do you think it's safe to drive the car in the condition it's in? (with that nut broken off?)

i had my wife shift through the gears while i was underneath the car and didn't see any movement on that bolt, but hey, even if it does come off i can just puch the clutch in. i was just wondering if there was any other reason not to drive it like it is.

OK Kdrshocker, I did the exact same thing. There is good news and bad news. The bad news is you won't have it fixed by Monday. I was able, however to drive my car for about a week (just to and from work... carefully) without any problems. I would check it every other day to make sure that the piece was still entact. You will have to order a new piece from the dealer.

The really bad news is that they may not sell just that arm. I had to order a whole new stock shifter in order to get just that piece. Check with them and they may have just that part available. I, like you, couldn't wait, so I didn't have time to look at junk yards etc. for just that part. So I ordered the whole new stock shifter to get that piece. My local Stealership couldn't get just that part.

how does that arm come off, is there just a single bolt on top close to the shifter that holds it into place?

How can the dealer not be able to order just that part? WTF? It's not like the assemblyline on our models has stopped making parts... [:@]

yes that's it. once you take that off, you have to carefully pry it out (it's not hard at all) and then put the new arm in place. It really is a quick and easy fix, just a PITA to have to get the part. Above all else, make sure you don't over tighten the new one..[:@]
