Default Wheels locking up?

Hey fellas,

I am new to having a beater as a daily driver and theres ais a concern i have with my car....after letting my car sit for a week, then hopping in it to go for a spin and get the fluids flowing, i start her up, listen to the music of the exhaust, pop it in R then let off the gas....she usually idles herself back out of the driveway but this time she doesnt, so i have to give it a little gas, then i hear like a lound knock or something that sounded like the wheels were seized and they just broke through it.....is this a concern?

It's not really a concern. I am going to assume that you set the parking brake for this time period? If so, what you are feeling is the parking brake 'braking loose' from the rotor. The brakestend to bond to the rotors especially in winter due to moisture and such.

Best thing is just leave it in Park and don't use the parking brake.

I've had this happen after my Stang has sat in the garage for a lengthy period, especially after washing it and then pulling her in and letting her sit. As long as you don't feel or hear the brakes dragging, I wouldn't be worried about it.

I am assuming he means to leave it in gear so it won't roll off and don't set your parking brake unless you park on a steep incline.

My hand brake tends to freeze in the winter, so I just leave it in first.

If its cold where you are its probably the brakes freezing to the rotor, they always touch even if you don't use the parking brake. If its warm and it happens have it checked out.
