A kill switch is better then having to go under the hood everytime you want to leave the car for a couple days and disconnecting the battery. Especiallly when in not having to pay for them to put the kill switch in.

1. they have a bad battery. With hundreds of thousands of Mustangs being made with a 99% perfect rate there's still going to be thousands with bad batteries. Take the battery (and the entire car!) back to the dealership. You don't just replace a bad battery, but want to have the whole system checked to make sure the new battery is getting sufficiently charged.
2. They have modified their electrical system in some way (aftermarket stereo/ DVD, radar, etc) or are using additional electronics that aren't being unplugged when the engine is shut off.
Solution- unplug the devices! Leaving them plugged in isn't just draining the battery but is an invitation to thieves to steal them!

Yea, a Kill switch is a totally gay fix. Think of the clocks, OBC, all sorts..... [:@]

so far it's looking promising. It's only been one day and i haven't driven it but the voltage is at 12.9 which is where it was last night but it's only day
in my case i don't think i had a bad battery but instead the power outlets were letting accessories drain the battery . Oh yeahand i put a carputer into it with a smart power supply which is why i put the extra battery. If aftera week it starts I'll declare victory and thenI'm gonna try testing the battery by leavingaccessories on with the outletsand disconnecting the optima battery to see how long it takes the voltage to drop. that'll confirm that was my problem

i agree that you'll run into bad batteriesetc buti just don't understandwhy ford didn't do something simple like make the power outlets switched like most other cars to save battery power...[sm=badidea.gif]

If they did, then we wouldn't be able to use our cigarette adapter BatteryTenders to chargeup our crappy Ford batteries.[sm=yikesomg.gif]

I have had a dead battery a couple of times w/ my mustang. Keep in mind I have an aftermarket head unit. First I accidently left my ipod plugged in the glovebox--dead battery 1 and 1/2 week later. The second time was a cell phone charger left plugged in. Whoops! I have a battery maintainer plugged in now and that has definitely solved the problem.
I had the dealership test my battery but of course they said it was good so no bigger and better replacement on their dime.

for those who have been having the dead battery problem like me, i've done some mods to the car that will hopefully let the car sit for at least a week without having to jumpstart or use a friggin battery tender. BTW the battery tender was the only remedy reccomended by the stealership

There are many concerns with batteries discharging. Some of the known concerns are:
1.Phones and radar detectors left on. Let me explain;after ~40 minutes the battery saver relay turns off to preserve the battery, If for any reason there is a draw on the vehicle (IE:the phone receives a call or the radar detector goes off) all the modules turn back on. the draw on the battery goes from < 50 mA to > 1A. Repeated occurances will depleate the battery.
2. 2005 -early 2007 models have be known to have badaudio units. To check for a bad unit; turn off your vehicle, exit and close the door(leave window open but remove keys), and look at the audio unit. If the clock is still on, the faceplateillumination is still on, or the CD changer is making noise, your aduio unit is still drawing full voltage.
3. On a very few models, the dome lamp switch(dial) will leave the interior lights on.
And if you do not drive your car at leastonce a week(for more than 20 minutes) a tender is the best choice.
