Default A warning to those with non-functional hood scoops...

sooooo... after about 4 months of looking at the horribly matched hood scoop on my car i decided to take it off tonight. along with my headlight splitters and brake scoops.

let me just say - for anyone considering removing their taped on hood scoop, good luck! take all the advice you read on here (unlike me) and put it to use.

it's taken me a good 4 hours by myself to take the pieces off. And i'm pretty sure i scratched my left headlight lens with my fingernail... ugh.

1)do it on a warm day... and stay in the sun until it's all said and done
2)use 3m adhesive remover - once I found the stuff it worked miracles

believe it or not I actually had a small crease on my hood from the scoop - not sure what happened there. i don't recall doing anything to the hood scoop while trying to take it off that might have caused that.

on the other hand, it looks like i should have a xenon hood scoop to sell if anyone is interested . pm me if so...

I don't have the factory wind catcher but is it something that a hair dryer, goo gone, and some fishing line couldn't remove?

Good call. Not a big fan of non-functional stuff taped to the car.

I've actually been tempted to buy the side scoops from the GT/CS. I don't know why but I really like the way they look.

your best bet i feel is to buy something that appears more functional before the side scoops...

you could probably manage to remove a taped scoop with braided fishing line, a hair dryer, and goo gone, as well as some elbow grease and patience.

be ready to stick it out, in case things don't go the way you planned it

Better.

There is just something about taping "performance" stuff to a car that is strange. It would be sort of like a v6 just hanging a drivers side muffler to get the look of duals.... but not actually connecting it to anything.

I looked at a black CS a few months ago.. and the side scoops looked taped on.. there were gaps at the edges.. and gave the impression that they might come off while washing or driving down the highway one day.
