horrible MPG since cai/tune

RE: horrible MPG since cai/tune
It may be a simple situation of more air = more fuel. If your stock car had a good air/fuel ratio to begin with, then the tune's good air/fuel ratio will be using more fuel.
And yes, ease up on the heavy foot mod. Maybe you're excited from having some mods so you're driving harder. Remember, it takes DOUBLE the fuel to be at 4000rpms as it does to be at 2000rpms. Its double the combustions in the chambers and yes, double the fuel injections. Maybe double is exagerrating, but not by much.

RE: horrible MPG since cai/tune
I only get about 16-17mpg in town. Bone stock. But then most of my driving is extremely short trips (2-3 miles). My car barely has time to get warmed up before I get to work. I'm also usually never able to get it over about 30mph most of the way to work. Heavy traffic. Slow MT'er drivers.

could you be running rich?
Saw this today and while they didn't modify the cars used in the test, it shows that changing your driving style can increase MPG by a HUGE amount:

RE: horrible MPG since cai/tune
5 miles to work every day isn't helping your MPG at all either. a lot of short stop and go's will kill your efficiency.
trust me. i had the same thing. i'd average as low as 11 driving that short of a distance every day but when i was freeway/longer commute i'd get up to 18-23.

Trust me I know what you mean.......seems like I can pass anything on the road......but a gas station!!!!
I really don't care, the key is I can pass just about anything on the road!!!!
Just stay off of it, you'd be surprised how it really affects mileage!

I got the Brenspeed 93 tune and C&L intake. I mpg stayed about the same, and I get on it a little more than I did before. So in theory I am getting better mpg. I usually get just about 300 miles on a full tank.
