There are many people (including Shelby) who've looked at both and decided 24mm looks better.

Yeah, I guess it's all a matter of opinion . If I'm not mistaken, Shelby had decided to go with the 24mm offset before the 40mm was even available. I'm pretty surethe 24mm came first and the 40mm some time later.

Same lip/width. It's the difference between the tires tucking under the fenders slightly or being even with the fenders like the pics you see here. i.e. moving the wheel out from the centerline of the axle...

Thanks. I just got some yesterday (40) cuz that was what was the recommended size. They look good and I can't really tell if they do or don't stick out any. Actually I was more concerned with the tire looking to narrow for the rim. I got the 255/45/18's (also the recommended size).
