Crazy?
Been reading a lot here the past week or so. Searching, reading, etc... I'm considering buying a new Mustang
GT, going to get some test drives shortly. One concern: This will be a daily driver for me (DD?) and my daily
driving does include some snow in the winter. I would plan to buy a set of wheels/tires specifically for the winter.
Anyone here do this? Are the tire pressure sensors an issue? I can get a set of cheap alloy wheels and snow
tires with tire sensors installed by Tire Rack for around $1200 or so, it looks like. It says something about those
tire sensors having to be registered with the car by the dealer?
Not being able to run 4 winter tires in a straightforward way would be a deal breaker for me... I'd
be stuck with an Accord Coupe or maybe Altima... Don't let that happen!

the tire pressure sensors are an issue if you get annoyed with having to reset everytime you start your car, although you could always buy a set of sensors on e-bay for 80bucks, the mount kit from americanmuscle.com for 70. this was you have a set for summer and a set for winter...oh one more thing you will need to buy a tpms tool from ford for 16.00..thats what i did, this way ur done. i live in ohio where the winters are harsh...no problem with a good set of winter radials.
I've driven mine through ice storms (at 60mph unless traction became an issue) and through 2 winters in Jersey. The stock pirelli's really held up well. Turn traction control off, or atleast for me. Car won't move if the wheels want to spin, sometimes you gotta get the wheels to spin a little if you're at a stop on some icey patch or something! Or in my case going over some slush in the road caused by intersecting traffic. (as if you're pulling onto a street)
I think the tire rack deal included new sensors and mounts pre-installed. What's the TPMS tool? Just
something that allows you to program new sensors?
We just got a record breaking winter here in NH, but still, there were only a handful of days I
wouldn't have gone out...
