Default Wheel Specs: Bolt Pattern & Offset

Looking at some custom wheels with the following options:

Size Bolt Pattern Offset

18 x 7.5 5x114.3 40

19 x 8 5x114.3 35

19 x 8 5x114.3 25

When I do a search using my car's information at the vendor's site, the wheels I want are not listed as an option for my car. What about the above would prevent any of them from fitting my '05 Mustang? Wrong bolt pattern or offset?

Thanks for the assist.

Using a wrong bolt pattern would definitely keep them from fitting on your car... The off-set would be more a clearance/appearance issue. What size tires were you thinking about?

The bolt pattern you list is correct (in millimeters).. That equates to a 5x4.50 inches

Size Bolt Pattern Offset Tire

18 x 7.5 5x114.3 40 235/50/18

19 x 8 5x114.3 35 245/45/19

19 x 8 5x114.3 25 245/45/19

Using the tire calculator, my stock height is 27.17", the 18" option is 27.25" and the 19" is 27.68".

I'd rather have the tire stick out than be recessed. Do you know the stock offset?

Stock offset is 45mm for the 17x8 and 50mm for the 18x8.5

The lower the offset number, the more they stick out.

Go with the last choice... 19x8 with the 25mm offset... since your getting 245 tires, you wouldn't have problems with rubbing.

But why not go with a wider wheel? why are you limited to only these choices?

The hub diameter may not be correct. Mustang hub is 70.6mm. If it's smaller than that, the wheel won't bolt up flat to the face of the hub. if it's larger than that, it will bolt up, but hub rings should be used to keep it centered. I happen to have summer wheels with 73mm hub, and torquing them down in the proper star pattern keeps it vibration free.

Other manufacturers that use the 5x144.3 bolt pattern use different hub diameters. Subaru is 56mm, Nissan or Mitsubishi is 67mm. Don't know what chrylsers generally run.

Tom

edit: The stock 17x8 wheels are 45mm offset. The V6 16x7 are 39mm offset. Generally, one could run 25mm offset on an 8" wheel without it sticking out.

I have the 18x8.5 bullitts with 50mm offset, and I am using 5/8" (about 16mm) wheel spacers, so my offset is really about 34mm, and it looks great!!!

The main thing I'd be concerned with is the hub...diameter and depth. You can always call the company and hope to speak to someone who knows what they are talking about.

The only option in the 18" is the 7.5" width. [&:]

The 19" comes in 8.5" 25mm or 35mm offset,
and 9.5" 30mm or 40mm offset.

I found another website and they list these wheels to fit the 2005 Mustang.
Now to choose the size and tires. [8D]
