I have hard time getting it into 3rd on occasion, during aggressive driving but never had problems with 2nd. I have the HURST though. Could be just a minor adjustment or needs to break-in.

... The other thing that really helps with second gear, is to pivot the block that is under the shift boot towards the passenger side of the car. This has a tendicy to put the shift lever more toward the center of the console, thereby kinda forcing you to pull toward you, as opposed to straight back, when trying to throw a fast second gear...
Mike
Like MLCRYCC says - do this. It makes a subtle but noticeable difference. It will make you exert just a touch more pressure towards the drivers side as you move from 1 to 2.

Well I've had the shifter for a few months now, so its not new, I just miss it sometimes when I'm aggressivily shifting. I think I'm letting the clutch out too soon, cause it always back out of 2nd gear and makes a bad grinding sound. I guess I just have to pay more attention when shifting to 2nd, every other gear is super smooth.
