Well I have the mgw shifter, and I keep missing 2nd gear. Only seems to happen when I'm pissed and trying to shift fast. I put it in 2nd and it backs out, then cause I hit the gas when I shift, it revs real high. Am I gonna mess up my tranny, or anything else?

Damn, knew one for me.[8D]
I didn't think anyone would struggle to find second...
That shifter has to be out of wack or out ofadjustments.

I have no experience with MGW soI can't be ofdecisive help.

Good luck man.

Third yeah, but second is a little unusual. Is it a new shifter? Maybe it needs to break in? I don't know?

Both of my pro-shifters were a little notchy until they broke in a little.

Don't know how long you have had the shifter, but when I first installed mine, I missed 2nd a couple of times. If you went from the factory shifter to the MGW, you are not used to the centering springs that assure a perfect throw to 3rd. The other thing that really helps with second gear, is to pivot the block that is under the shift boot towards the passenger side of the car. This has a tendicy to put the shift lever more toward the center of the console, thereby kinda forcing you to pull toward you, as opposed to straight back, when trying to throw a fast second gear...

You said nothing about 4th gear, so I assume you do not have the shift stops, and have them adjusted too close to center??

i noticed that when i was in a rush i wasnt pushing the clutch in enough and letting it out 2 fast...the happened in second and third a few times but im not sure if your doing that...i read a little about that shifter and it said that would end missing all gears so maybe it needs to break in

I just installed my MGW this past weekend and I did miss 2nd a couple of times. I think what is causing it is the centering spring. If you make a concious effort to pull the stick toward you a little bit while shifting to second you won't have that problem. In a day or so you'll be used to it and it will be second nature.
