Often they have trouble getting a good, solid reading with laser and, IF you're lucky to catch a piece of the shot, you'll have possibly a few seconds to react. They'll typically try for the front license plate or anything with a flat surface perpendicular to their position. I believe our headlights on our Stangs would give them problems because they're angled about 30 degrees from perpendicular. Our big, round fog lights, on the other hand, are probably good targets.

do they make the ones that mount in the bumper anymore, and then display in the cockpit?

yes, and it can be yours for like $1200 [:@]Just go the hardwire round and save the cash

you can put it in the bumper but it wont be nearly as good as it being mounted at the top of the window...
