my mods brought me to 290RWHP... so that'll give you a good Idea... CAI+Tune = 35 Full Exhaust = 25 I paid 1450 For everthing except the mufflers which I paid 350 for (ebay)

Fimilar poster of this thread! I wanted to chime in but Matt beat me to it as usual!... I have to agree with Matt... you know what I have done to my car and I have not changed the exhaust for the better (side exhaust, stock manifolds, stock CATS etc) but I cannot say it hurt the car either. Sure if I had LT's and no cats (or high flo cats) and a x pipe I might get more HP than I already have from that awesome S/C! But in the long run I am holding off per an article from Lidio for Alternative Auto (link coming). Even on a boosted car he did NOT get the HP/TQ he was expecting like you would have from yesteryear......why because the car is so different in design (designed better from factory IMO) and the parts play well together. JMO but the point is mute from here on out! J

Part I want read quoted here
On to the performance part of the exhaust changes we've made. It really didn't surprise us that the exhaust changes we made to the 05, even with the blower, added 10-15 RWHP. Yep, that's it. Only about 10-15 at the rear wheels after a pretty extensive change in the entire exhaust system. The reason that this comes as no surprise is that it has to be excepted that the stock system is pretty darn good now that it's a full 2.5â€, not 2 1â„4†like previous model years. Even the exhaust manifolds have a header like shape cast into them unlike older 4.6L manifolds which were essentially a tube with 4 tubes leading into one log. The ‘05 manifolds basically have a 4 into 1 header design. On the day we dynoed the car with the new full exhaust it must be noted that it was 18-20 degrees hotter the last time it was tested without the new exhaust, this major change in weather will adversely impact our results. But the rest of the tune was watched, checked and even tweaked a little just to try and squeeze a little more. And in the end with the given boost and over all combo, we've deiced that it was worth a total of 15 RWHP only at the very peak RPM’s. And subtle gains from 2500 rpm all the way up. It must be noted though that the sound that this new and unique system produces is very different. It has a deep big block type sound at all rpms and loads. The overall costs and gains of this complete system are something to be considered though.

cost of headers varies a great deal so i cant really give you any good answer there......but project quick is right.

CAI/Tune~25hp

lts/midpipe/cai/tune~40

for N/A car you probably wont get more than 15 from the headers and midpipe if you already have a CAI and tune

People are comparing 2 different cars in that thread. The S197 is nothing like any other beast before, the same rules just dont apply really....our stock exhaust is much better than ever before, so getting tons of gains from it just doesnt happen

The best bang for your buck is CAI/tune.......end thread

from just the exhaust......15-20 on a N/A car maybe....
I got this video from mustangs and fast fords magazine where they do a full exhaust on a base GT and then dyno it. They picked up 17 horsepower at the wheels and that's with LT's and with no tune so that sounds about right. The good part is that even though the peak HP gain was not much, the increase throughout the entire RPM range was pretty significant. I.E. at 2500 RPM the HP gain was 10 HP and that's a big deal at that engine speed.
