Default Tire Pressue Continually Dropping?

I keep getting alerts about low tire pressure, mainly because the rear driver's side tire keeps underinflating. I just filled it up to 32 psi this time last week and now it's at 26.

I'm new to all this automotive stuff. What could be wrong?

I'm thinking that my tire has a leak somehow? If so, how do I go about fixing it?

I'm thinking I probably caused it, but any way that this could have been a manufacturer's defect?

Thanks for the answers!

DON'T USE FIX-A-FLAT or anything like that or you'll be buying yourself a new Tire-pressure sensor

You could have a 'nail' - just bring it to your local tire shop and I'm sure they'll diagnose whats wrong with the tire. If it is indeed a nail - it should cost no more than 15-20 bucks to get it patched.

Have you checked the tire valve stem? If that's loose the tire would losePRESSURE very slowly. You could also take a bottle with soapy water and spray all the way around the tire where the rim and tire meet. Any bubbles means a leak. Alternatly you could take the tire off and rotate it in a tub of water. Air escaping would create air bubbles.

If you have an '08, it's the OEM wheel/tireand it's leaking like that, just go back to the stealership. Unless you damaged the tire or wheel, they should fix it at no charge.

Look on the bright side, you know your TPMS is working...

Valve stem takes all of 30 seconds to check...vs an hour or longer + travel time to the dealership. If it's not the valvestem you can take it to the dealer since, if there is a leak anywhere else, it'll end up there anyways.

you have a nail in your tire. My wifes car got a nail after only 4 days on the road. Her
car has the sensors and I knew the tire had a nail after 5 seconds of checking all the tire pressures. I've gotten two nails in my tires.

Its called a flat. They happen sometimes.
There are places you can take your tire
and they can patch it for you. You dont
need to buy a new tire if they try and sell
you one. Get out the ol soapy water and
spray some on your leaky tire and the
leak will appear as bubbles where the tire
is leaking air. No bubbles, no leak.
I would hop on the valve stem first if
no nails are readily visable upon inspection.
