You could use that spray stuff that freezes warts. PB disolves the gum, but you trade one mess for another.

I went to go get my mail at the P.O. and guess what! Stepped in someone's GUM. [:@] Didnt notice it until my FOOT stuck to the CLUTCH pedal[:@][:@][:@] How in the heck do I get this crap off. It is on my floor mat too[&:]

so you post in a tech section about you ****ing stepping in gum? too bad it didn't get stuck to your face LOL!
On a more helpful note, use what they suggested above. I personally would just try to scrub the gum off with a brillo pad for the pedal(s), and for the carpet I would probably try the same as well.

Peanut Butter??never heard that one. How does that work?
Actually, it's true. Peanut butter works. Wanna know how?...next time you're chewing a piece of gum, eat1/4 teaspoon of peanut butter with it...instant disintegration...try not to puke...

I think the idea with peanut butter is that a contaminant is best dealt with if combated with a liquid of similar viscosity. That and perhaps the peanut oil neutralizes the stickiness of the gum.
