so you post in a tech section about you ****ing stepping in gum? too bad it didn't get stuck to your face LOL!
On a more helpful note, use what they suggested above. I personally would just try to scrub the gum off with a brillo pad for the pedal(s), and for the carpet I would probably try the same as well.

I think the idea with peanut butter is that a contaminant is best dealt with if combated with a liquid of similar viscosity. That and perhaps the peanut oil neutralizes the stickiness of the gum.
