I'm planning to buy a Mustang GT Manual in the next month or so, and have about $21k to work with. I read this post:

Maybe it's just Michigan and the surrounding area, but every used GT I can find is $21-$25k, and the dealer ain't dealing because they say they sell every one they get. Is this area of the country is so far off the average, where should I be looking? There is discussion of NEW ones in that for the low 20's, compared to what I am finding on auto trader and Ebay, that just sounds insane!

FYI - I'm looking for a Vista blue '06 or '07 manualwith less than 30k miles, and with cloth light grey interior, 3.55 gears, and GT appearance package. Maybe the interior appearance package, but I don't much care about or wantanything else, or any mods.

 

With 21K I dont think you should have any problems with the options you want. Just keep searching. Good Luck!

I bought my car FULLY loaded, new, for $29,900.

I would think you'd have NO problem finding a used one in real good shape for $21k. Or, like JOHNNY said, maybe even a new one..

 

Again, awesome prices! Where I bought my car back in '06, now I don't see a GT for under 30k, I've even seen some V6's in the high 20's and 30 + K!!! I got my car (an '06 GT premium) from 31 to 27k,in Nov '06 so I think I did good)

My only advice is to make a list of those features your HAVE to have, and the ones you could
give up on. For example, if the car had everything, but was red instead of blue, would you take it?

When shopping for used things, condition at my price ranks highest above all else, then options and
color come secondary. You might be limiting your search and passing by some real creampuffs..

Well in CA, prices are going pretty low for used Mustangs (V6 and GT) and even the new 2008s. But really, see what you can find used first. Because the way car values are depreciating rightnow, it's scary buying new. UNLESS you know you'll keep it for a long time. I bought mine used because I wasn't sure if I'd keep it forever because I'd eventually want a GT. But now that I've had it, I know I'll keep it. Unless I could really really afford to buy a brand new GT, I would shop used first. But definitely don't settle! You want Vista Blue and the dealer tries to sell you Torch Red (or whatever), just say NO. Good luck!!

 

Moosestang,It was in The Tampa Trib a week ago Sunday 4 stock no for $20,995.00 he bought the candy red one I went with him when he bought it. I don't have to b/s anyone you live in Fl. so it would be easy for you to check out. The price include all rebate even from Ford credit. They did have a dealer prep off $595.00. They had a add on Tues after for 21,995.00 4 stock numbers,being in Fl. just call them. What my gain to b/s I paid sticker for my 05 and 08 just tried to help a new buyer out.
