Convertible question..
I just got my "Screaming Yellow" 2005 Mustang GT Convertible. I love everything about. Skip the banana boat and taxi jokes. I heard them all. I think it's by far the best color combination out there.
Anyway...the top doesn't appear to go down all the way. I looks ok, but I think it should be about 1 inch lower. Is that the way it is? Does anyone else have one and look at it the same way as me? Maybe it's only supposed to go down that far, but it looks like it should go a wee bit more.

All I can tell you was that I was at the dealers last week, and saw a 6 cyl convert, and it WAS yellow, come to think of it! Anyway, since Ive had several ragtops in the past, I noticed how far the top went down. And it seemed to me that it went all the way down just fine. You might have thought that it coulda went down farther, who knows?
I owned a 2002 convertible and when I saw a 2005 GT convert, I thought the same thing...the top isn't going all the way down. I think that's the way they are, but I would suggest checking a few more out.
I've been looking at Mustang convertibles at several dealers and they all look the same way. The top does not go all the way down. The soft boot helps it look a little better. I had a '66 Mustang convertible 20 years ago and it definitely did fold deeper into the well then the '05s.
I do wish Ford had put in a power hard tonneau cover like the Saab, Volvo and BMW convertibles. The other thing that I find lacking in the Mustang convertible are the automatic latches. The Mustangs use manual latches.
Inspite of these minor short comings, I love the mustang convertible and placed an order for a torch red GT convertible with the red interior upgrade last week.

The top is designed to look good down even without putting the boot on. The front portion of the top sits a little higher than in earlier models so you can just drop and go and have good eye appeal without the boot. A lot of our customers like it so much, they don't bother spending the $115.00 for the boot. Here are some pics of the convertible we got in today.

Thanks for the info. I will look around at a few of them.
I did find 1 defect. I need to bring it to the dealer. The driver's side armrest, actually the piece where the windows controls are popped out of the door. It's got one of those clips and the clip looks fine, but it doesn't seem to want to catch. I don't want to jam it in there too hard in case I snap something.
