Default I have a Question

Ok I have rolled this idea around in my head for a while. Why cant we have DOHC in our cars. Maybe this is the wrong place to post this, but since we have SOHC why doesnt anybody make some sort of kit to to change them over. I may be just simply minded mechanically but it seems all you would have to chance would be the heads, timing wheel, and timiming wheel cover. Possible change the pistons to. I have a older fellow proably 30's or that works at the Ford dealership. All he says might be a problem was the oil routing. It would be expensive, but I believe that given the deffinite advantages that it would be accpeted especially for juicing the V6's up (because that is what I have). So alteast tell me do you think this a good idea to press and how would we get it through. Give me any imput you can

you don't change a SOHC engine into a DOHC engine.

It's not done. Just buy the car with the engine you want or pay $10,000 for a new engine and try to shoehorn it in.

Useless Trivia
Yes & No, Moser solda DOHC conversion for S.B. Chevy
years ago. Even farther back Ardun had an overhead valve
conversion for Flathead Ford V-8`s. So yes it could be done.

With enough money, anything can be done. The question should be why would you want to?

Cheaper to produce a 3 valve than a 4 valve. If you want DOHC you should get a GT500

Well my only thing is that I dont have the money to get a GT500 and I want the extra horses to bolt on. So maybe you go with a 3valve for it but I just figured that if you were going to do all that work why not just design a DOHC. I mean there is a power differnce there

not that much of a difference, the cost for the conversion compared to cost to get 175 HP from a blower...which one you think wins

I was thinking that if you were going to do that much then why wouldnt you just stack them. I mean in the long term if it were up to me I would just for my own car anyways I would put a blower on top of a DOHC engine. I figured that it would be a good idea because you would get more proformace and it would be just like changing the heads with a slight bit more work.
