Default Hypertech Performance Tuner and more ?

Has anyone ever used the Hypertech Performace Tuner?? What's the PRO and Cons on this tuner??

I'm thinking of running this programmer with an Cold Air Intake.. Add Steeda Intake throttle body spacer and some underpulleys..

Will this work?? Whats the draw backs of this set up?? Thanks all..

Interestingy enough, after 3 years of being on this forum, I've never heard of anyone here using the Hypertech programmer for their S197. Based on that knowledge alone, I'd go a different route such as SCT and Diablosport which are available direct from the top tuners of our cars such as such as Brenspeed and Bamachips.

The Steeda CAI is a fine piece, C&L, and JLT round out the top 3 most popular here by far. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Steeda TBS will be a waste of money, don't bother.

The UDP's will give you 8-10hp at the wheels,(they gave me 9), and you will notice the engine revs up faster. A good mod if you're planning on staying N/A.

Flatline...

I had a hypertech because my dealer told me that is what he sells(cough, cough) the most of for the s197....HOWEVER, once I had it, I realized that you can't go into any sort of depth with the options on it...it is very basic...more importanly, Bama nor Breenspeed, to my knowledge, do not support this system. After spending about a minute and a half on this site, I took it back and got a Diablosport....same amount of money, so many more options.

I'm leaning toward the CAI/Tuner for a while.. Not really ready to drop 6k in a supercharger.. I figured a CAI/Tuner w/Underpulleys would do for a while.. It will be a learning experience for the tuner.. I'd like to do it myself.. I know there's alot that can be programmed, but i have no idea on what it will be and how to answer those questions.. Basic would be good, but i want something i can go basic or later on to actually play with.. That make sense??

n/a = naturally aspirated
f/i = forced induction (turbo or blower)

Don't get the Hypertech programmer, go with a SCT or Diablosport. As said before; UDPs are a good mod as long as you plan on staying NA, and throttle body spacers are useless.

No, you won't need a tune for just an X-pipe. But if it removes the converters you would.
