stripes.....pay or do it yourself
I have a set a stripes just dont know if I should pay for install or just do it myseft for you guys that have done it how hard is it? and if you could go back would you have paid or done it yourself?
Depends. I found a local guy, he has a local reputation and gets business from the dealer
I bought my car from. He does a lot of business in town. He has all the motivation in the
world to do it right and have a satisfied customer. I didn't get a kit, he's making them from
scratch. It's a little more than some of the quotes I've seen around here, but again, I like
dealing with local businesses with local reputations to uphold. Plus, the guy seems really
knowledgeable, has been in business for a long time, etc...
If you CAN'T find someone like that, then I would do it yourself. You'll certainly be
more careful than some random guy.
Where in NH are you plutnicki?
I bought a kit from BaltimoreStreetMods and had place in Bow put them on. They could have cut the kit in-house but actually suggested I bring a kit to them to save me some money since they didn't have any templates for the car and would have to do all measuring and such. It's a vinyl graphics / truck accessories shop on 3A. Paid $250 which was worth it to me since I know I don't have the patience for it.

After the last horror thread, I would say take it to a professional shop for the peace of mind.

+1 I just finished reading that thread. Poor guy. Professional shop FTW!!!!.
Look at the some of theinstallers work, call past customers. Can't trust just any
random bone-head that tells you " Yeah....No problem! "
Wasn't there a thread not to long ago about a guy's dad surprised him witha stripe job,
and the installercut the stripes on the car and into the paint? OMG.....
Good luck, take your time checking around, and post pic's whenit's done!
Jeff,
I'm in Pelham (Southern NH). Getting mine done at a place in Salem on Rt. 28 that does
trucks and business signs. They've done a few Mustangs, so they have the templates, however
mine requires a few additions.
I seriously considered doing it myself, since I do have access to a buddy's shop and help, but
I'm hoping to have it done once, and done right. At least until I decide to say F-it and get it painted.
I would say it depends on the stripes. I installed mine myself, but they were fairly easy to do. If you're going with the standard issue solid stripes front to back, I'd recommend have a pro do it.
I paid. I've used Modern Image Signworks, in Huntington Beach, for stripe installation onboth my 99 V6 and my 05 GT. They were professional, helpful and I was very pleased with the work they did.
