Throttle Response Fix?

RE: Throttle Response Fix?
that dead space is really getting to be a pain!
I experimented with it today while driving through the parking structure at work. Going just over 10 mph I could tap repeatedly on the gas pedal yet nothing would happen! RPMs wouldn't change at all. I should probably film it to see but I am pressing the pedal down a little, not just hitting it.
The delay makes driving slow a real PITA, and pulling out slowly into the alley or street becomes more difficult. With hand controls I could probably be more precise but it hard to do that with my foot. I wonder if the automatic makes it even harder?

RE: Throttle Response Fix?
Yup.
It is not throttle response, that's a tuning issue.
What they are referring to is the "dead space". This is demonstrated by laying your foot on the gas pedal, then pushing down on the pedal to a point that the engine actually starts to rev.
The way I corrected mine was to cut a small piece of 1/8" +/- aluminum and bend about a 45 deg. angle on it and tape it in position.
If you can squeeze yourself into a position to see the action of the gas pedal you will notice that you can depress the gas pedal, by hand, and see the space where the aluminum spacer goes into.
You will have to run your car through a few start cycles to get the PCM to learn the new throttle position.
Works great. I have neither the eyes of a buzzard nor the hands of a brain surgeon to perform the other mod which on face value seems pretty simple.

turning the key to ON without starting the engine.
Allow the idiot lights to go out. Press the gas pedal
slowly all the way down, hold it there for a sec and
release it slowly. Do this a few times. Turn off the key
and its now calibrated to the PCM.
Everyone should do this regardless of doing the mod or not.
