I found the Vortech for 200 cheaper. Don' quote me but I believe the sit was www.v8power.com. I thought it was a great deal, but you still have to consider that's w/o the intercooler. The intercooler will cost you a grand. That's the only reason Vortech/Paxtons are cheaper.

I can't wait to get a s/c. I just want to see what the motor will old. People can debate til they are blew in the face. Not taking hits at anyone, but by years end we will see. Then that's when I will either get one or not. I can't see buying a new motor with only 10k on my car.

If I had the money right this moment, I would get the Saleen and change the pulley size based upon the reliability specs that get more clear over the next year. But for now, I must wait and doing so allows me to understand the true limits of this 4.6L engine and it's components.

The rwhp cutoff on stock internals willl be around 450 rwhp. That is a safe # if the car is tuned right. Anything more than that, and you are playing with fire. The weakest link is in the connecting rods. The stock 05 gt connecting rods are made from compressed powdered metal. Under a lean condition with detonation, these crappy stock rods will literally come apart. Too much hp will also make them come apart, even under a perfect tune. The magic safe # for rwhp is around 450 + or -, with a good tune. Anything above 500 rwhp on stock internals is sheer lunacy.

Birdieman:

Let's assume we replaced the connecting rods with forged ones, how much hp/tq could the other parts take if the rods are the weakest link? Or is that the transmission is the next thing to go?

Thanks.
