Default Pypes O/R H pipe install

New guy here. I just purchased a 2008 Mustang GT/CS about 3 weeks ago. Since then I've been reading alot on this forum and found alot of great info on different mods.

So far I've had a GT hood scoop installed (the dealership had it done as part of the deal) had the windows tinted (15%) and side window deflectors installed.

I've ordered Pypes O/R H pipe, MAC mufflers, C&L CAI, SCT X3 tuner with an 87 performance, 93 torque and 93 race tunes from Bamachips, rearclear side markers w/silver bulbs, black turn signals w/silver bulbs and web electric sequential tail lights.

Today I installed the H pipe and MAC mufflers but my tuner wont be here till tomorrow. I was wondering if its alright if I go ahead and fire it up so I can check out the new exhaust or do I need to wait till the tuner gets here and program it first before I fire it up?

Also when I installed the H pipe the top 02 sensor (green connector) on the passenger side is touching the tranny. When the threadolet waswelded in the pipe it wasn'tangled out as far as the factory one was. I tried adjusting it as much as possible but can't get it off the tranny. Is this going to be a problem? Should I not worry about it or should I call Brenspeed and see if the pipe was just welded up wrong and I should return it?

Thanks for anyadvice you guys can give me.

You can install it and run it without the tuner...no problems. The tune will turn off the check engine lightwhen you load it in.

Look at TacoBill's write up and see if his looks the same as yours.

Thanks guys. I just fired it up and it sounds great. Its got that nice old school muscle car rumble to it.

Now I feel like a kid on Christmas eve. My CAI and tuner will be here tomorrow. I can't wait to install it and take it for a spin. I've heard so much about the 93 race tune and I'm dying to try it out.

I came in a checked his post out when I ran into the problem. From the looks of his pics the threadolet is turned at a different angle than mine is. More like the factory cats.Plus his is the 2 pc design and mine is the 4 pc. If it turns into a problem later on I'll just remove the pipe, cut the threadolet out, turn it on a better angle and tig it up.

If for some reason it does touch on the tranny, you could put some heat tape around the wiring to keep it from burning up. The tape may melt on it for good, but if you ever have to change out the pipe, you can always buy another O2 sensor. That one is $42 at Pepboys. You have to watch out for Pypes because who ever makes their pipes are a bunch of morons, they have a lot of fitting issues with their products. One shop in town wont even mess with them because of the issues. I was thinking of an off road X from them, but I heard of the same problem like you have with that pipe. I guess you get what you pay for. Did you buy the Mac Axlebacks?? If you did, you will really enjoy them. They sound good with just about anything IMO.

I may try some heat tape. Like you said, I can always get another wiring harness if something breaks then I'll fix the pipe.

Yeah I got the MAC axlebacks. The reason I chose thisexhaust was because of a video clip I saw of the same setup on another mustang. Loved the way it sounds.

Yeah I ran the Pypes H and the Mac and it does sound pretty good, until you slow down from high speed, then it gets pretty loud, but not a bad loud. It was a little too loud for me though. I heard the clips on you tube with a black 07 GT and I thought wow, got it on mine and said oh ooh ticket time.
