Sure the cars will go to 160 or so, but that is when it's running good and been taken care of. If some punk ends up buying it after it has 100,000 miles on it with no work done to the suspension and under body i doubt it would do those numbers and if it could i wouldn't want to be in that damn car. At those speeds you just better hope everything you have under there is in extremely good condition.

I saw a LT1 camaro that had a bad misfire and leaking oil like you wouldn't believe from the cloud of smoke out the back still pull a mid 14 sec quarter. So yeah, I think the LS1 unless it was flooded or had some major drivetrain problems would still hand the 05 GT its ****.

yeah i think so too. But if it had those problems and your pushing it like that. The car is going to die a early death. I saw a mustang gt from the early 90's that was quick as hell on the highway from where i live , he was racing a camaro z28 , the mustang was quick hanging right with him until the motor caught fire. I seen the whole thing from behind them. Leaving the light the mustang was burning oil.

Mustangdude75 that sucks and i agree i would have raced him to not the kind to back down and my friend has a 305 in his 91 camaro and it does 140+ but he got scared the first time that he did it because his right front tire randomly locked up and he had bald tires (and yes he is stupid for doing that)

I had a guy play that game with me when I had the 99 yellow gt.. He has some big ugly run down car and he wanted to play. Of course it was raining.. and I played a little back and forth.. then I started to hydro plan and more cars were around.. so I let off.. but the puck had to go past me and gun it more and more.. a coule of min later I see break lights and that A@@ was out side of his car in the rain and looks like he totally lost control and spun it around and hit the concreat side.. I rolled right big honkin' and waving. It pays to be safe and smart at times... [:-]

Random question, but how did the '02 trans am and camaro z28 both have a larger/faster engine than the current Mustang GT and still have better gas mileage (as reported by the companies) and they cost less. Don't rip me on this one though, I've been doing my research b/c I'm going to order and '06 Mustang GT b/c they're freakin sweetness, but is it that GM's engine designers did a better job? Don't get me wrong, I have no idea how much they broke down, or if they performed poorly so.

Just wanted to get your guys' opinion on this. Thanks

The city mileage is probably due to the 1st to 4th forced skipshift. The LS1s also have slightly lower gearing @ 3.43.

The highway mileage is purely the super tall gearing of the T56s in the F-body and Vettes. They spin at around 1500 rpm @ 60 mph. They're also a lot more aerodynamic than Mustangs, which is one of the most important factors for highway mileage.

because pushrods are better

the skip shift is the lamest thing EVER PUT ON A CAR but deff lets them claim higher mpg

rember that there is no corrolation between displacement and mpg

as for costing less... if they cost less than 25k its news to me. GM skimped on the chassis, those things handle like butt
