Default Drone on Mid Muffs

Just wanted to see if anyone using a mid muff setup has any drone issues. Pype kit, glasspacks, or any other type of bullet/round muffler.

I have a pair of Magnaflows in the middle, love the sound. But after 8-9mo installed they all of sudden started to drone on the highway. I had a MRT catted H at the time when the drone started. Since then I went to MAC LT and O/R Prochamber, same problem.

I can't imagine they just broke in recently. I'm wondering if some the insulating material inside has deteriorated that might cause it. I have a MAC catback system on order, not that those are any better. But I do have a couple of cats I'll probably put in place when the cat back goes in.

Anyone having this problem?

Thanks

I agree Corsas wont drone, but from a personal perference I like a chambered muffler for sound. Only reason I'm getting MAC's is cause I bought a set of MAC shorties by mistake. If I returned them I'd lose $100. If I exchange them for the MAC catback, it would only cost an extra $100. I'd rather spend than lose.

I'm thinking putting in the cats will solve, or help out with the drone on the MACs.

I didn't have any drone issues whith my mid-muffler setup with the stock cats & H-pipe.
When I installed the LT'S & O/R H, I only kept the MM setup on 1 week. It was very loud & didn't sound as well anymore.
I'd recommend a chambered axle-back with the LT's & no cats. The prochamber will tone it down some though.

+1 on chambered. I wish I could mount them in the middle of the car without compromising safety. Plus I have cams going in next month which I think a chambered woudl sound better with it at idle.

The reason the sound has changed is just cause your muffs are weathered and broken in. At first honestly. I didn't think my stingers sounded much better than stock, but after they were broken in, they sounded much better. Lot more character than before.

You need some resonators (in different sizes) placed before the mufflers but after the CATs. It will help cancel any drone you have by changing the resonance in the exhaust system. Drone is merely same freq at the same time. Or mount each of the mufflers at a different distance from the CATs and use your mufflers to help get rid of drone. I have drone on my magnapacks but only at 1800 rpms and it really is not unbearable at all IMO....I have side exhaust as well..... J
