I would be crying in my beer. What luck..... first payment.... birthday.... great car damaged. Man what the luck, but hail... at least it can be repaired to new condition. I would feel your pain but my ordered GT is not even close to being here yet, but I'll pretend for you though.

Sorry man, that's really terrible. Fortunately body repair has come a long ways in the past few years. In a way you're lucky the car is black. Black will show every little imperfection so if they miss anything it will be easier for you to spot and point out to them. It will also be easier for them to see the damage and hopefully do it right.
Just make sure you go over it with a fine toothed comb before you sign ANYTHING that says it's repaired. Regardless of how carefully you look it over when you pick it up, you WILL MISS something. Insist that you want to take it and have it for at least a week so you can be sure it's as good as it was before you absolve the insurance company of any further obligation to repair it.

I've seen PDR guys perform MIRACLES ! My neighbor had a Honda Accord caught in a hail storm in Tennessee I SWORE was going to be totalled. He got it back a couple of days later and I took a flourescent shop light and TRIED to find a mark and there was none. TRULY AMAZING ! !

Cheer up dude....it'll be OK....but I still feel your pain !

For what it's worth, a good PDR man has lights set up so he can see all those imperfections.

The PDR man will have his own lights but when you receive the car back you will most likely not be able to see the car in the same conditions as the PDR man. When I received my 05 back from the body shop it looked great outside but when I got it home under good lighted conditions it was A much different story needless to say they had to repaint the hood.

So sorry bout the GT!
I have an idea. See if the insurance company will give you good $$$ for the damage. Do you have an estimate yet? Then use the money to race-ready the GT. Grey primer, and then lay down the black stripes...
:-)
If I happen to be in a hailstorm i know I (and several others out here) will slam on the brakes, jump onto the roof with my windshield sun blockers, and endure all those little blows for the sake of my roof!
