Default Steeda Tri-Ax owners!

Hello all,
I just purchased a Steeda Tri-Ax shifter for my '06 last night and I just wanted to verify a few things with those of you whom already have on in your car.

I have read alot about how in vibrates a bit and that if you replace the front bushing that steeda gives you with the stock one it is better. Is this true? Has any tried this? What are your thoughts on this?

I am also going to put in the rubber shim between the two bolts on the handle that steeda sells. Has anyone tried this?

Is there any tips that you have done in your install that are not in the instrucions that you would like to share?

All help is appreciated!

Let me start with I have no vibration or road noise issues.

Use the steeda bushing, used one washer on each stud on the rear, use a 12x12 sheet of dyno mat over the shifter body that I trimed to just fit on the edge of the body if the shifter, used the stock boot stretched over the steeda shifter and used the rubber gasket between the shifter and shifter handle. I powershift at the track and the washer mentioned above helped with getting into 5th and R. PM me if you need more info.

Sounds great Docwine..... Thank you for the input. I think I may try your method! The only question I have is what do you mean by a washer on the rear studs? Do they go on top or bottom of the shifter body?

I had my Tri-Ax installed by a Steeda-authorized Ford dealership where I purchased the car. I did not see how the tech installed the shifter, but I can tell you that I do not have any more vibration than the stock shifter had.

When the radio is off, I can hear transmission noises coming from the shifter, but nothing that I would call annoying. It definitely has a more direct feel with the car.

BTW, I also had the aluminum driveshaft installed at the same time as the shifter. The car feels much lighter now!

Well I went ahead and got the Tri-Ax. And I love it!!!!!
I must have the updated model though as the instructions said to re-use the ruber mount on the tranny and I got an isolator shim for the shifter. I have the lever bolted to the lowest points and I covered the tranny tunnel in dynamat x-treme. I also re-used the ruber boot and had to shim the rear mount with a set of small washers (provided in the kit) but all in all it is great. I give it a 9 out of 10.... Why 9? For the price they should give you a shift ****. Why is it over $240 for SN197 but the one in my old 5.0 is like $100?

The only noise I have with mine is a little transmission whine/chatter that is a result of the billet aluminum.....seems to transfer sound well.

THe SN197 is a lot more expensive because there is a LOT more to it. THe old 5.0 shifters jsut bolted right to the top of the transmission, you didnt even need to go under the car to install it, you just popped off your shifter boot, undid the 4 bolts and replaced the stock one....literally took about 15 - 20 minutes, whereas teh SN197 it is a completely different mechanism.
