Anyone see any reason why we can't jack up one side of the rear axle at a time with a bottle jack and place the jack stands that way? I've yet to do that with the Stang but have done it with lots of other vehicles. So far I've been using my ramps but I want to do some work on my wheels soon.

mount and all should be good. The vehicle weight will transfer down thru the axle tube
and onto the jack instead of having to go laterally to the pumpkin if one were to lift the
rear end in that fashion. Its all about the leverage and mechanical advantage.[:-]

That's the theory...
We've been putting jacks under the pumpkin since the model As and we all made it.
Can you show us an OEMrear axle housing bent, because of that?
Thanks!

Do as you will.'I couldnt find a pic of one because the times it happens it is so minute of
a bend you would not notice it by the naked eye but when you get your
vehicle aligned, rear camber shows where it should not be.
Do it right or not at all is my motto.
Have you been around that long as to work on a Model A?
And a Model A compares to the new stang how?
I know it has four wheels and a steering wheel but it kinda stops there.
The guys who made the Stang, Ford, states in many different places
to NOT LIFT THE REAR END BY THE DIFERENTIAL HOUSING. I wonder why.
Just to **** us off? I think not. But do as you will and take it with a grain
of salt. Just thought the OP would want the info he requested. Thats all.
Its all good.
Iv'e lifted mine several times under differential, place a 2x4 on the jack and place it just in front of the flange on the back side of the diff.
get jack stands in place asap. then I lower the jack but keep it very close to the diff. makes me feel a bit more secure. Cell Phone handy.

Mechanic made my cover leak by jacking on diff. I think this is more the reason than bending the axil, lol. have you ever seen how meaty those rear ends are.I honestly dont think your gonna bend any thing that way.

It's all good, like you said...
I don't disagree with you actually. It's just that the theory is not always like the bible.
And thanks man... How olddo you think I am?[&:]

Being around pre-war cars and sh#t...[8D]
I'm only in my 40s ya know. It's old compares to the averageteens on this board but I run with them every Sunday on a soccer field
.
So true hammer...
I'm duplicating this right now (I post those pics before).
I will get those saddles done soon and weld it on my car
.
I do have a lift, but I it's just as quick to jack up the car for tire rotation.
