Default Weird electrical shut off problem. Help?

My brother has a 2005 Roush. He has had the battery die about 5-6 times. It has 8k miles. Rarely driven. Anyway, last night he was driving and got caught in a sudden rain storm. He said the car ran fine but all the dash and headlights just went out. Nothing worked. I find it weird that the engine would run but all other electrical items went off. Any thoughts? The ground seemed fine. No fuses blown. After a shut off and turn on, everything worked again. The battery was dead about 2 weeks ago but started with a jump. This is scary. He is going to the dealer but was just curious if anyone else has had this happen.

That is a strange one. However our cars are known for batteries going when car is not used much.
