Did you remove the 1/4 glass or just smash it? I've heard that with those SHR louvers that its easier just to smash them instead of removing them....

The adhesive is so tacky and strong that I would have to ask 'how do you get any remaining pieces off the rim?' as once the glass is shattered there are bound to be remnants still attached. It seems easier (not to mention smarter and safer) to use a tool to cut the seal of the entire glass and it comes right out. Then you use a razor to skim/clean the remaining thin bead/film of adherent. I can only imagine breaking the glass, cleaning up all the small pieces and then trying to cut out the shattered remnants still in the recess with a razor in your hand.
Also, I do not believe that it would save you any time. You still need to take apart your interior to get access to the window so that you can water test the seal and that is where most of the disassembly/re-assembly time is. I suppose that maybe if you are an AGR adept person you could do this and trust that your seal is fine and no small pieces of glass got into the spaces between the body and the rear seats to cause a rattle it would be an option.
I don't see this being standard operating procedure or a safe procedure for someone who wants to 'do the job right.'

Just got my car back from shop. Had Silverhorse Louvers and Agent 47 mirrors painted/installed. Very happy with the finished product. The painter went the extra mile and also masked/painted the inside of the louvers as well to match my interior (light graphite leather) to really give them an OEM look. The pics:

I am no AGR specialist, but I did do this install myself. I just can't see how smashing the glass is a viable option:

I think the ones who smash the window cover it on both sides with tape first! I don't think they could be that stupid to just smash glass that will get over everything...
Anyway, I love the matching paint job on the insides! Very cool!
how much did the paint job and the install set you back?
I'm trying to get more folks to share the prices.

Hi Orion,
I purchased Cervinis Eleanor wondow scoops and to prep, prime and paint inside and out cost me $325. I think that is super expensive, but I wanted to have it done 'right' and a neighbr went to this paint shoip with a 2001 Mustang 6 moinths ago and it was perfect.
Dave
P.S. Would love to know how much others are paying also.
