Default Supercharger info?

Hey guys, I wanna go the supercharger route sometime in the future but wanna do a lil needed research first. If anyone could just lay it out on the table for me right quick, is there anything else you HAVE to do to install a supercharger as far as parts are concerned? I've heard a lot about forged internals and other drive train components but how much of this is necessary to keep you engine from blowin up if any at all? With most superchargers ranging in price from 5 to 6 thousand dollars what is the overall price im lookin at plus install?Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

when you get it dyno'd after installing the supercharger tell ur tuner to keep the tune pretty tame to start with so that you dont blow ur engine... the stock V8 block will handle around 490-500rwhp without too much stress and for most superchargers thats between 5-10 PSI depending on its size and make.

Internals are only nessacary to be replaced if you hope to achieve numbers above that. If you do you can do something simple like replacing rods and pistons with forged ones or go as high as rebuilding your entire block with a stroker kit... once again depends on your numbers.

Other things that performance wise might be benificial for you to replace is fuel system (pumps, rails, lines), driveshaft, suspension, clutch, brakes... these are all things that might help or even be nessacary to replaced once again depending on what numbers you are shooting for.

Hope this helps,
James

Check out brenspeeds site. (Thier kits are very complete). If you call and talk to seth he will be very helpfull. I would definatly go to bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump or kenne bells boost a pump, and make sure you get a blower that is intercooled. Also, keep in mind that you might want to increase your boost down the road(trust me you will want to) so look for a kit that is upgradable. good luck.

I mainly agree with anything except the v8 stock block #'s and the boost lvl. If you want to be safe go 450ish. and a s/c wont make 490-500 on 5/6/7/8 psi

You do not need fuel rails. Adam from ST Motorsports runs his GT500's at 700rwhp with stock rails and lines.

Your best bet for a stock block is to get a Saleen Blower and contact JDM. They do amazing things with there tunes and will sale you a complete kit. I think with labor and there best kit that makes 500 safetly you should be looking at around 7k give or take thats with labor.

There tunes are pretty dead on as well.

Every thing else is stout. Change your rear girdle though so it can handle some hard launches

You also should think of your overal goals with your car before you commit to any S/C.

for 500 or close to rwhp you will need 60lb Injectors and perferably the GT500 pumps, Depending on what you tune with SCT or Diablo. For SCT the BA-5000 is a great MAF and for Diablo the Mafia is a great Maf as well even though its a piggy back

Yes you can do it w/o rails but upgrading the fuel lines + rails should bring the duty cycles down. I am 100% sure Jim should be looking at over 90% Duty cycles @ that hp or even running dual BAP's
