They send you dynomat as part as the MGW shifter so obviously its ok to handle the heat. I have it all around mine and all up in the D/S tunnel

After having my hurst installed the shift boot didn't sit properly so more heat was being transferred through, I just duct taped it down thoroughly. It's been that way for over 3k miles with no problems and nearly all the heat is gone. It feels cooler than when I had the stock shifter in place.

Dynamatting the tunnel generously helped... but not NEARLY as much as changing the trans fluid to RP synchromax. After the fluid change the heat "magically" disappeared. Great stuff!
