Default Model Year Differences?

Hello all,

I read through the FAQ's and searched, but didn't find anything on this.

I'm curious to know if there are any variances by model year from 05-08...

For example, for the Pontiac Grand Prix (which I currently mess with), from 97-98 saw a change in the way the tranny is hooked up, different info cluster, things like that. 98-99 saw windshield washer fluid tank moved. There are many many more things that changed, but that's just to give an idea.

Has anyone compiled a list of things that have changed?

Part of my question is because I'm wondering if there's any reason to pick one year over another, or if a cheap 05 is better than spending a few extra dollars on an 06/07.

If this info is somewhere and I missed it, I apologize.

EDIT: I guess I should add, I know about the differences in option packages/wheels/etc, I'm speaking more of the mechanical/PCM side of things.

-Geoff

05- rear gears were 3.55 standard.
06+-3.31 gear standard with 3.55 a option (i belive)
07+ over-all weight of the cars increased since all bodys were made to be pulled off the line and made into gt500s.
08- different options

im sure theres more but those are all i can think of off the top of my head right now.

05 is the best year, 08 is good for it's unique revisions such as the shifter boot and climate control dials. 07/08 are the worst for speed because the transmission mounts are braced with 25 extra lbs even though the car isn't pushing more hp. Then the rest of the car is braced with 20 more lbs. That's like loosing 7 hp.

For the 08, there are tiny, tiny little differences from the prior year in aesthetics. With the IUP, you have more things outlined in chrome (like the radio volume ****, for instance). Uh, other than that, I have no idea.

I have an 08.

why would they give us chrome!?!! no disrespect to anyone that loves it, i just think that my volume and menu button would look plenty fine without the chrome outlining.

don't the 08's have a felt liner on the window to prevent scratching for the tints?

The 2005 automatics did not have 3.55's

The TPMS started to appear in 2007...
But there have been so many new options added each year that it would take all day to go over them. It doesn't really matter anyway.
Just get the Mustang brochure for whatever year you have or want to have.

Other changes for 07:
The valve covers were changed. Less bolts used to hold it on.
Cooling system has different flow which required a different upper hose.
Yellow was dropped and orange added.
Silver bullitts instead of charcoal.
Rear spoiler changed on V6
Pony package offered on V6

Some changes for 08:
A new silver color added
Interior accent lighting added
HID headlights added as option

05-06's have a different ecu from the 07+ stangs.

The 07+ stangs can be enabled to autodjust tune based on the fuel you use. I belive to a lesser extent the 07+ have that feature enabled but not as good as the bullit does.

very early 07's have auto down windows as well. 07+ as stated above is calculated for 500+hp. The engine bay I bealive is wider.

Only the bullitt has the adjustable tune, none of he GTs do. No sure what you mean by autodown windows. this is a standard feature on all years, unless you mean the keyfob autodown and that was only on the 05s and not all of them either due to randomly having the windows go down on people.
