Default Xcalibrator 3?

Some of you may know that I'm adding an O/R Prochamber to my Boomtubes this weekend and one issue I had was how to turn off the MIL on an '07 Stang. MIL elimswouldn't workin this caseand everyone said to get a tuner. That wasn't an option for me either since tuners can be expensive so I was going to live with having the check engine light on until I can get high flow catsput in. Well, I just remembered today thatBush had signed a stimulus bill and I should be getting $600. That put me on a search for a good tuner & intake combo. I think I've narrowed it down to this...

http://www.bamachips. com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18_4_10 _32&products_id=16&zenid=61d06665cc8dff3d3 f8af2dfa44b4f57

Anyone have this combo? How do you like it?I heard the Xcal 3 has bugs but maybe it's been worked out? I was going to go with Brenspeed but they don't have a combo package with the Xcal 3. Only reason I chose the Xcal 3 is I'd rather have the latest equipment.

Project85,

How long did it take to get your X3 & custom tune? I heard Bamachips is kinda slow with customer service since it's a one man operation.

By the way, your car looks almost like mine. We both have rear panel blackouts, side stripes (your sig doesn't show this, probably old), rear diffusers, red calipers. It was my girlfriend that told me she saw a white mustang like mine and said it was near Safeway by our house. This was a few months ago. A few weeks later I saw a picture of your car on the forums during a search for some topic I forgot and wondered if it's the same car we saw. I didn't catch your screen name at the time and couldn't find the pic of your car again until a couple of weeks ago. That's when I made the post to you in the 4.0 section. I didn't know your car is a 6cyl. Thought it was a V8. It'll be cool to go cruising with another Mustang enthusiast but I rarely go out since most of my time is spent with my lady and 1 yr old daughter. Gotta do the family thing. I have no social life nowadays. LOL

My opinion is to go to VMP Tuning. Get a Xcal2 with three custom tunes for $395. I'd suggest the C&L intake with a 88mm maf tube. It's an awesome combo. Justin's tunes are top notch. He's one of the best tuners in the country by far. I know this forum is a little biased towards Bama and Brenspeed but I can assure you if you go with VMP Tuning you won't be unsatisfied. I'd stick with the Xcal2 because the Xcal3's firmware issues etc. The Xcal2 is tried and true and it's going to do the same thing as the Xcal3.

I checked the SCT website and it looks like the Xcal 3 has a new firmware update so I'm not worried about the bugs of the past. I'll still get the Xcal 3. Only thing is not many vendors have the Xcal 3 in their combo packages. I definitely want the JLT intake though. It made the highest horsepower/torque increase in a CAI comparison I read.

It took bama about 2 weeks...

Actually my sig is updated... got different sideskirts, took the "MUSTANG" sides stripe off and I was planning to add a different black side stripe on... maybe GT/CS style? lol then our cars will really look alike

I got my tune from bamachips within 2 hours of ordering it. 93 race tune. If your gonna get a canned tune why are you gonna pay all that money for the xcal3. I just boughta used tuner for 180 and paid 50 to bamachips. I also have an offroad pipe and i used the xcal toerase that.you can use any xcal to erase that even if its married to another car. If you want a brand new tuner you i have seen them go for less than 250 on ebay BRAND NEW. since the xcal3 came out it pushed down the price of the xcal2

if by erase you mean clear the codes, they do comeback, you actually need to have your tuner (person) turn of the 02s for the xcal. Diablo you can handle this yourself.

As for a used tuner, many people have gotten burned because of this. The tuners are still married to the other car and some other problems that caused people to spend a good deal of extra dough to get fixed.

Also, if you get 3 tunes from Bama or Brespeed, you will not be saving that much money at all

$200 used tuner
$125-$150 for three tunes and you are almost at the cost of a NEW tuner with the tunes

its worth the extra $25 to have the tuner come preloaded with tune and support to.

All of this is my opinion. Hell i bought my xcal used for $200. I already had a diablo too, but wanted to try a Brenspeed and VMP tune. So $75 for brenspeed, $50 for VMP and anothe $50 for a tillman tune plus the 4 Tunes from Bama, i have spent a great deal of money on tuning and have gotten great results from the tuners and he xcal
