What octane do you use and from where?
Hello, I just bought a brand new mustang gt and was wondering what octane everybody was putting in theres. around here we have 87 91 and 93. and also why does my fuel cap say "ford recommends bp"? is it because of a deal they have together or because bp is about the only place out there with little to no ethanol in them? Thank you very much.

Use 87 Octane until you get a tuner. check this site for details http://www.sctflash.com/
Ford Recommends BP because BP payed Ford to put a sticker by the gas cap.

Use 87 octane. You only have to use better gas if you get your car retuned and it requires it. Your brand new car only needs 87. You also can use any place you want; not just BP. Like you said, its just a marketing partnership between Ford and BP. Nothing to do with the fuel itself. Congrats on your new purchase and welcome to the club!

87 as recommended by Ford.
You can get a tuner such as SCT Xcal and tunes that allow you to run different octane but there is no benefit to running higher octane on the stock tune.

I run 93 and the 87 octane but I'm tuned for those. And I normally get from Bp...I dont know why...I guess I just like it lol.
But I would run 87 until you get a tune. Running anything higher will just wast your money.

I've seen it recommended to stick with Top Tier gasoline...
