Is there a solution to eliminate paint chips on black hoods or is there some other hood I could try that wouldn't show the damage as bad. Is there a color that could mix with the black exterior of the car? I'm a perfectionist but learning slowing to live with not being perfect. Most mustangs I see are o.k. but mine looks like it was beaten with a chain. I know if I quit driving fast it could deter somewhat but isn't a mustang suppose to be driven fast?

Just as I assume their isn't an answer for this. I thought about even getting a carbon fiber hood just so I wouldn't have to look at all these damn pits. Next car I can will be silver or white anything but black.

I think black shows chips more because the primer is white and shows like its lit up. I just had all my chips touched up and it looks great.

Do you drive on gravel roads or crumbling concrete roads? You might want to check out getting a clear bra over the front of your car. I also have a white car with 10 years of chips and dings but I hardly notice them.

Get a clear bra man, its a thick plastic sheath that covers the whole front of your car. Its resistant to rock chips and other things like that from damaging your paint. And the best part is that you can't even see it. But its there, and its protecting your paint.

Yeah but those things are like 700 dollars aren't they? I guess I need to make up my mind to paint the hood every other year or like do something about it.

Don't tailgate people.. and stay away from trucks. That's worked pretty well for me.. but it is almost impossible to avoid chips on the highway.

I'm also coming to the realization that black is an even bigger bitch than I was expecting. Looks awesome when it's perfect but every tiny little scuff and scratch shows up like a sore thumb in the sunlight. On overcast days and at night the car looks great but it's impossible to keep it perfect without busting your ***.
