Default unlocking xcal 2

besides making more money what is the reason the xcals are locked, is there anyway you can unlock it yourself?

don't know of any other reason


i've never heard of anyone unlocking
an sct xcal by themselves

If i'm not mistaken you just hook it up to your computer and you can unlock it from there...

That depends on what you mean by "locked" with the XCAL. The XCAL has3 phases of "lock". The first is via the computer code, if you go with a custom tuner like Bama or VMP they lock the tuner to your vehicles computer code. The 2nd"lock"is via the writentune, once athe vehicle is writen itcanonly be unlocked by returning the vehicle to stock or sending it back to SCT. The3rd means of lock is basically a vehicle transfer type lock. The tuner can only be sold or used on 5 different vehicles. You need to go in to the LiveLoadsoftware and"unlock" the tuner if you wish to use it on another car after it's stock tune has been put back in. I learned all this the hard way..... ended up costing me more 2nd hand than it would have to buy new!
