Question: '03/04 Cobra or '05 GT with Procharger??
I am torn between buying a very clean low mile '03/04 Cobra and buying an '05 GT and slapping on a pro-charger. What are your guys thoughts?
Which would be faster? Which would be more reliable?
They are quoting about 420-440 rwhp out of the '05 GT with the pro-charger. So basically about the same as a lightly modified '03/04. How about driveability?
Any suggestions or comments are welcome.
Thanks,
Dan

03/04 corba make what.. 320hp.. 05 with procharger will push 500+hp.. much more then a lightly modified 03/04. As long as you keep the toys tuned and dont push the boost too much you should be ok for either one. I would go with the 05 and prochager.... hey wait... thats what I'm doing now =-)... just got to save another 1K and I'm getting it... weeeeeeeee

Hey lostsoul -
Thanks for the advice... I have seen '03/04s put down 360 to the wheels totally stock and over 500 rwhp with only a few mods - pulley, exhaust, programming, cold air, etc...so I think the power levels are about the same.
If I can get the pro-charger tuned properly and safely and putting out a similar power level than I agree it would be no contest. But what about the rest of the drivetrain? Clutch probably needs to be replaced, but how about the tranny, synchros? I know the Cobras are built to withstand serious power and most guys turn up the boost without doing anything else.

well... i would definatly go with the 05. I work at a shop that deals with just mustangs and the 05's are awesome. Yes i have seen SVT 03's put down equal horsepower with few mod's, mainly changing out the pully with like a 2.8, change the gears, exhaust, and let her fly, but the 05 u get NO MILES ON, and a much more quiet and smoother ride, by quiet i mean that inside the cab, road noise is far less in teh 05's

damn.. your right.. my bad..
Horsepower: 390 hp @ 6,000 rpm
Torque: 390 lb.-ft. @ 3,500 rpm
Specific output : 84.8 horsepower per liter
Redline: 6,500 rpm (fuel shut-off at 6,500 rpm)
but its got a SC??? already??
The 2004 SVT Mustang Cobra, available as either a coupe or convertible, is the most powerful regular-production Mustang ever made. With a Roots-type Eaton™ supercharger and water-to-air intercooler, the Cobra’s 4.6-liter, four-valve V-8 engine produces 390 horsepower and 390 foot-pounds of torque

RE: Question: '03/04 Cobra or '05 GT with Procharger??
I just bought a new 04 Cobra Vert, because I've seen some dyno at 372-385 bone stock, Ford Underated the motors my guess is for emissions and insurance. I like the 05's also, what made the difference for me was the 2k price difference between the Cobra vert and 05 Gt Vert at the dealership I went to. If your looking for which will make more power, its the Cobra all day long, stock internals are foraged, and block is cast iron, can handle alot of boost 20psi + on stock internals. 05 can probably handle up to 10psi and that might be pushing it.

Yes the 03/04 Cobras already have Eaton blowers in them.
But the most important thing is the Cobra's potential. It's got fully forged internals with 8.5:1 compression. It can go 1000 hp on stock internals with turbo setups. The 05 GT is never meant to be a forced induction car. Unless you do serious internal mods, 500 is about the absolute ceiling.
