horn chirps with key on
Hi, new to this forum, recently bought a used 2006 Mustang convertible. I've had the car about a month, runs great fun car, but it developed a problem this morning. When the key is turned to the "on" position, the horn will chirp twice. The car starts and operates normally. The car is pretty basic, it does not have a message center, there is no indication of any problem anywhere that I can find. I've searched and came up empty. Naturally the warranty has expired, so I would like to try and fix this myself. Thanksfor any advice, Doug.
Well, I guess I used the wrong teminology, it is the OEM horn, it gives 2 quick honks, so quick there is virtually no time between them.
I suspect that Ford left some undocumented features in the electronics. The computer has the ability to generate messages but no display for them. I accidently left the trunk unlatched one day as I drove off, every time the trunk lid bounced the door locks would unlock then lock, an icon on the dash would flash so fast I could'nt tell which one it was. I found the unlatched lid later, then it made sense.

Check for the underdash water dispensor the S197s have.
Is your passengers side carpet or pad wet or have signs
of water damage? It sounds like the SmartJunctionBox
has gotten wet like most with the water leak option. [:'(]
Otherwise, its stealership time for you to determine the problem.

took it to the dealer today to have a spare key made, 2 service writers looked at the horn problem, just shook their heads. when I got it back the problem was gone, have no idea what they did to it.
