Default CAI or not to CAI?

Hi there, I have a simple question for you guys but it ill help me in my decision.

Ok, im not from Usa, im from Europe and ill be buying a Mustang GT this summer in Usa buy was thinking about mounting a CAI at Brenspeed.

The car will be shipped to Spain (Europe) Where I wont have any warranty or any specialized tuner to re tune the car in case something goes wrong.

Well my question.

Would you install a CAI in my situation or leave it stock?
Do CAI systems stop working as the car gets older?
What would be the worst situation in case something goes wrong with the CAI?

Thanks To all you guys.

I would leave it stock, no CAI/tune. If anything, you would have added 25+ horsepower. Don't get me wrong, it's a great setup, but being that far away from a dealership, I'd leave it as it is. You're still going to have fun! Good luck!!

I disagree. As long as you keep the original airbox, you can return the car to stock form at any time. Tuning the car is not altering it in any drastic way, it just improves driveability and performance.
Do it!

Whoa... don't listen to the post saying not to do it. CAI/Tune is so basic shouldn't even matter if there is a dealership around. Do it!!! Drive it stock then add the CAI/Tune and you will be really glad you did.

Definitely go with a CAI and tune, the difference is amazing. I would recommend a JLT or C&L CAI with a Bamachips or Brenspeed tune.

If you had a full warranty and you lived next door to a Ford dealership you would still have to return the car to stock form. Brenspeed has great customer service.. if there is a problem, they can send a new tune through email. I would do it.

I know it might sound stupid but will it afect mileage?
Isnt there any other way of adding Hp with no tuning?

Maybe adding a bigger Air filter but not retuning?

If something goes wrong nobody will know how to solve it here in Spain as we cant buy Mustangs here and my local ford has never worked on one before.

Thanks for your replies.

Have any of you that say not to do it ever lived overseas and tried troubleshooting/repairing a vehicle without the convenience of a dealership? It's a PITA! Yes, it's a basic mod, but why risk it?
