shaker 500 stereo-night illumination
We just bought an 05 Mustang. It has the Shaker 500 sound system. 6 disc in dash changer.
My question is this: at night, when you turn the headlights on, the buttons do not illuminate. Only the digital display is visible. Are the buttons supposed to be lighted or are they not?
I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't be but I guess it may be the case. Does anybody know if the stereo buttons on this system should be illuminated?

Mine did the same thing when I bought it. The dealer hooked it to the computer and changed a PCM setting. It was programmed wrong from the factory and they just had to change it; nothing was broken.
From your name I assume you're in San Antonio. I took my car to Jennings Anderson Ford in Boerne for them to reset it. They already knew of that type of problem.

If the HU has ever been swapped out with an aftermarket then maybe the illumination wire was not reconnected correctly

stang wiring does not have one persay. Illumination is
controlled by the can buss data network that stangs have.
I would be checking for the water leak near the SJB.
Or the as built data could be wrong or corrupted.
You cant just go swappin OEM radios unless the stangs
that the radios came out of have the same build data.
