^do you have those shallow mount subs in the doors? I posted a thread about that in the audio section but got no replies. those shallow mount subs are incredible and always wondered how well they would work in the doors.

I don't have them but read a post in another forum from someone who installed them. He said he had to modify the grille slightly but they fit like stock.

His other posts in that thread havemore information.

Often times a single speaker will be counted as two because it is considered a 2 in 1. So they count that as two. Don't know if that's the case here. I wanted the 1000 when I got my car but after looking in the trunk, I decided against it. That system is hugh and takes up most of the trunk. I'm sure it sounds good though. I went with the 500 and it too sounds good.

2 subs in trunk
2 subs in door
2 in the rear deck

Here is where ford is creative
there is a 5x7/6x8 plate in the doors that have a tweeter and a woofer if i remember correctly

You are all wrong, the workshop manual shows 12 speakers for the skipper 1000.
Unless the Ford Wiring Diagram is wrong??????? Eat that as someone put it.

Wrong again.

Ford's own web site says 10 "audiophile" speakers for the Shaker 1000:
[blockquote]
Shaker 1000 Audio System - AM/FM Stereo w/In-Dash CDx6, MP3 & 10-Audiophile Speakers[/blockquote]

And the manual you referenced lists 10, not 12:
[blockquote]
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

Audio System

The base audio system consists of an AM/FM single CD audio unit and 4 full range speakers.

The 500 watt system consists of the AM/FM 6-CD audio unit (MP3 capable) with:
• Two full range speakers 2 speakers
• Two Audiophile 2-way speakers Ford counts these 2 2-ways as 4 speakers
• Two 8-inch door mounted subwoofer speakers 2 speakers
• Two door subwoofer amplifiers

The 1,000 watt system consists of the 500 watt system components with the addition of a luggage compartment 2-speaker subwoofer enclosure with an amplifier rack. The amplifier rack is mounted with CD 4 amplifiers. 2 speakers[/blockquote]
When I was in school 2 + 4 + 2 + 2 = 10

You're counting eachof the 4subwoofers twice because the wiring diagrams show the dual voice coils as two separate speakers. Now that's really stretching.

Also, they only show the front 2-way speaker as a single speaker.

Dual Voice Coils.
I always wondered about
the wiring not matching the
speaker count.
Thanks for explaining that.
I didnt know but I do now.
