Oil Filter Help (In Process)
Order you one of these next time with some good full syn oil and don't worry about anything for another 5-7k miles.

It's been echoed about how bad the Fram filters are and, granted, they don't do well in comparison testing. But I have also used them for years and have put over 200,000 miles at least 3 vehicles and over 100,000 on 3 more using Fram filters and they never burned or used oil or made any "noise".
Based on what I've read I buy the Motorcraft filter based on price and occasionally I buy Amsoil filters (good for more mileage than you'll EVER consider). But don't fret about using Fram.

Considering how bad a faulty anti drain back valve in a oil filter is for the motor. I'd rather not run the filter at all. Personally, I'd be switching it ASAP, especially considering the filter is only $4.
Ya. Finally got it all taken care of. I picked up my oil and filter at Pep Boys the other day...Fram was the only brand (of 3) that I had even heard of so I got it...but should probably use more diligence in taking care of my baby.
What I found out is that the Fram PH2 is used for all Ford 4.0L V6 engines since 02 or 03. I always used fram for my 96 Exploder (as my roommate calls his), but I was never too concerned about how she ran...she was a beast and I beat the crap out of her. I guess I really don't have anything against Fram but the anti drain back issue doesn't sound good.
Next time I'll be picking up either a Motocraft, Mobile 1, K&N, or maybe try out these Amsoil things.
When I searching the forums earlier I saw alot of people recommending Royal Purple as a great full-syn oil. My bro was just telling me about that stuff the other day too, so I might give it a go around. More often than not I just take it into the dealership cause I don't have a good setup or time to do it myself, usually, and I think they use Valvoline synthetic blend, so thats what I got this time. I might have to switch it up to full-synthetic next time around.
Thanks for all the suggestions and help though! Really appreciate it.
