Oil Filter Help (In Process)
I'm about done changing my oil.
I picked up a Fram Oil Filter from the store. Just read a couple forums where alot of people don't like them, but oh well its good for 3k miles.
Problem is it looks bigger than the white one from the dealership when I had my oil changed last. It did screw in ok, but it just doesn't look right.
Can anyone verify I have the right filter. I double checked at the store and got the PH2 Fram for a V6 Stang.
Thanks.

RE: Oil Filter Help (In Process)
I've googled for this info and got nothing.
I just checked Fram's site and they have jack crap for anything on there. Just a picture of the Part if you search by #.
I'm never getting Fram again.

RE: Oil Filter Help (In Process)
I've used Fram oil/air filters my whole life, and never had a problem with them. They do occasionally cut down on the number of different filters they produce when engines get less popular (as the Escort got phased out they cut down to a single filter for all 2.0L applications). It may be that the filter the produce for use on your engine is different than the stock unit. It will still work just fine. Also, the black rubber grip on the bottom of the filters come in awefully handy some times.

+1, I know Fram filters do poorly in comparison tests, but I have used them for over 20 yrs with no problem either. I do recommend the Motorcraft filter for our stangs though. They cost about the same and they do perform better, especialy if you plan on going longer change intervals.

RE: Oil Filter Help (In Process)
I will NEVER run a Fram filter in any of my vehicle. I will always discourage people to run them as well. I've ran one in my 2004 F150 before I knew better. I don't know if they have an anti drian back valve or if it's just really poor. Regardless it made my 2004 F150 make HORRIBLE noises at start up because it was running dry. I'd recommend buying Motorcraft, K&N, & I even think Roush makes a high performance oil filter in the FL820S.
